What is Vozly? A voice-first to-do, notes, diary and dream journal for iPhone

An illustration of a smartphone with a large microphone icon, surrounded by chat bubbles, checkmarks and sound waves.

Vozly is a voice-first capture app for iPhone and iPad. You hold the microphone, speak and release. Vozly saves what you said as a to-do, a note, a diary entry or a dream, and keeps the original audio recording with it, so you can replay your own voice later. It was built because its founder wanted to capture to-dos by voice the moment they came, away from a keyboard.

This page is the plain description of what the app does today, what it does not do, and what it costs. Everything on it comes from the maker’s product facts; the other posts on this blog are essays about thinking, focus and memory.

How Vozly works

Capture is one gesture: hold the microphone, speak, release. It takes one touch, not zero, because a recording never starts without a touch. If you need your hands, slide the microphone button to the right while holding it: the recording locks and keeps going until you tap the stop button. Sliding it to the left cancels the recording. Vozly transcribes your words and saves them in one of four places, plus an Inbox where captures can land first:

  • To-Do, with projects to group your tasks.
  • Notes, for ideas and things to remember. Our guide to the voice second brain explains the “capture first, sort later” habit.
  • Diary, a daily voice journal. See why a voice diary works.
  • Dreams, for recording a dream the moment you wake up. See record your dreams.

Every item keeps its original audio. The transcription is the working copy; the recording is what you can replay, with its tone, pauses and laughter.

What is free

  • An Eisenhower Matrix, where you place items by urgency and importance yourself.
  • A Pomodoro timer for focused work blocks.
  • Control Center controls on iOS 18 and later: “Add task” and “Add project” open Vozly directly at that action.
  • A home screen widget.

Deadline reminders

When you set a deadline on a to-do or a note (date picker, then Save), Vozly schedules a local notification for that exact date and minute. Its title is “Vozly” and its body is the text of the item. Completing the item or clearing the deadline cancels the notification. It needs notification permission, and you set the deadline by hand: Vozly never reads a date out of your speech. About three days after you last opened the app, it also sends one local “come back” notification. Vozly has no push server, so every notification is scheduled on your device.

What Vozly does not do

  • It is not an assistant. It does not answer you, organise your items, set priorities or decide anything for you. There is no wake word and there are no spoken commands: you speak the content, and you do the sorting.
  • It does not parse dates or priorities from speech. Due dates and priorities are set by hand after capture.
  • There is no cloud sync. Your data lives on the device where you recorded it.
  • There is no Android version and no native Mac or Apple Vision app.
  • There are no team features, no sharing and no integrations.

Platforms and languages

Vozly is an iPhone and iPad app. The App Store also offers the iPad app on Apple silicon Macs (macOS 14 or later, M1 or newer) and on Apple Vision Pro (visionOS 1.0 or later), where it is listed as “Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS”. It is available in seven languages: English, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Turkish and Ukrainian.

Speech recognition and privacy

Transcription uses Apple’s speech recognition. Depending on the language and the device, the audio may be processed on the device or sent to Apple’s servers, so Vozly does not claim that your recordings never leave the phone. Vozly itself has no server: nothing is uploaded to Proseca, the company that makes it. The privacy policy has the full text.

Pricing

Vozly is free to download. It is free for your first 10 items; from the tenth item on, Vozly keeps recording but reminds you of Pro once per session. Pro removes the reminder; it adds no other feature. In the US App Store, as of October 2026, Pro costs $0.99 a month, $4.99 for six months, $7.99 a year or $19.99 once for a lifetime. The App Store listing is the reference for current prices, and vozly.app/pricing has more detail.

What’s new

The current App Store version is 3.2.3, released on October 10, 2026.
